The Yale is an electric rim lock designed for gates and doors, combining traditional key-operated cylinder security with low-voltage remote electric release — allowing homes, offices, and commercial premises to control entry from a distance via any intercom or access control panel.

  • Remote Electric Release: Operates via a low-voltage 10W–12V pulse from any intercom or access control panel, allowing the gate or door to be released remotely without a physical key.
  • Triple Access Control: The latch opens from outside by key, from inside by button, and remotely by electric pulse — giving full flexibility over how and when entry is granted.
  • Left & Right-Hand Compatible: Designed to fit both left- and right-handed door and gate configurations, making it a versatile choice for any installation without needing a separate model.
  • Multiple Backset Sizes Available: Fits backsets of 50, 60, 70, and 80mm to accommodate a wide range of door and gate frame profiles for a precise, secure fit.
  • Complete Installation Kit Included: Comes with a striker plate, inside and outside cylinders, a cover plate, and 3 keys — everything needed for a full installation straight out of the box.

Description

Yale Electric Rim Lock

Remote-Controlled Security for Gates and Doors

The Yale is an electric rim lock designed to provide secure, remotely operated access control for residential and commercial gates and doors. Made by Yale — one of the world’s most trusted lock manufacturers with over 180 years of heritage — this electric rim lock is the ideal security solution to release a gate or door from a distance, making it the most suitable lock to install on doors or gates where remote access is required. It combines the reliability of a traditional key-operated cylinder lock with the added convenience of low-voltage electric release, giving users full control over who enters and when.

How It Works — Dual-Mode Latch Operation

The latch is operated from outside by key and from inside by button — which can also be locked with a key — and remotely by low-voltage pulse at 10W–12V. This means the lock can be triggered to release from an intercom panel, doorbell system, or access control unit without anyone needing to physically turn a key. When the electric pulse is sent, the latch releases and the door or gate can be pushed open. Manual key operation remains fully functional at all times, ensuring access is never lost even in the event of a power interruption.

Key Benefits in Detail

  • Latch Bolt with Fixed External and Internal Cylinder: Features a latch bolt mechanism with a fixed external cylinder and internal cylinder button lock, providing both physical and electrically controlled security in a single compact unit.
  • Left and Right-Handed Compatibility: Designed to work on both left- and right-handed gate and door configurations, making it a flexible fit for a wide range of installation scenarios without needing a separate model for each door swing direction.
  • Multiple Backset Options: Available in 50, 60, 70, and 80mm backset sizes, allowing precise fitting across different door and gate frame thicknesses and profiles.
  • Complete Hardware Included: Comes with a striker, a pair of inside and outside cylinders, a cover plate, and 3 keys — everything needed for a full installation is included in the box.
  • Sub-Lock Roof and Under-Hatch Protection: Features a button lock with under-hatch and sub-lock roof, adding an additional layer of tamper resistance to the internal mechanism and protecting against manipulation from outside.

Where and How It’s Used

This electric rim lock is suited for a wide range of access control applications across the UAE, including residential villa gates and boundary walls where remote release from an intercom is needed, apartment building entrance doors managed from an in-unit panel, office and commercial premises requiring controlled entry without a physical key handover, and light industrial or warehouse gates where staff access needs to be managed remotely. It is particularly well suited to metal gates and doors in the UAE’s villa and compound settings, where perimeter security and remote visitor access are everyday requirements.

Usage Instructions

Connect the lock to a compatible 15W/12V transformer — the lock must not be powered by any other voltage source. Install the lock body on the gate or door surface using the cover plate and fixing hardware provided, ensuring the correct backset size is selected during installation. Connect the low-voltage wiring from the intercom or access control panel to the lock terminals. Test both manual key operation and electric release before completing the installation. To release the latch remotely, send a momentary low-voltage pulse from the connected panel — the latch will release and the door can be opened with a push.

Directions for Best Results

Select the correct backset size before installation and confirm the door handing (left or right) to ensure correct alignment of the latch bolt. Mount the lock body on the gate or door surface using the provided cover plate and fixing screws, then fit the striker plate on the door frame in line with the latch. Connect the lock to a dedicated 15W/12V transformer using the appropriate low-voltage wiring — never connect directly to mains power. Wire the electric release terminals to the intercom or access control panel as per the panel manufacturer’s instructions. Once installed, test manual key operation, internal button release, and remote electric release before closing the gate or door.

Note: This lock must be powered exclusively by a 15W/12V transformer. Connection to any other power source may damage the internal mechanism and will void the product warranty.
